When i run amcheck on the tape server (Red Hat 7.1) I get the following message:

this is run as user amanda, who is in groups backup and disk

the permisssions on sda1 (mounted on /):
brw-rw----    1 root     disk       8,   1 Mar 23  2001 /dev/sda1
the permisssions are the same on sda5, which reports no errors:
brw-rw----    1 root     disk       8,   5 Mar 23  2001 /dev/sda5

in /tmp/amanda the selfcheck.XXXXXXXXX.debug:

I do not get any errors from clients with sda1 mounted an /.
I am seeing no errors in /var/log/messages

Any ideas why I am getting this error?
