The amcheck page is at http://amanda.sourceforge.net/fom-serve/cache/16.html I think there are also some tests in the docs directory in the distribution. Check all that, and you still have no luck, try to give us more details, such as if the problem client is the same host as the server, the contents of /tmp/amanda/amandad.debug on the client, if there is a firewall in between, and the output from tests you have tried (such as what happens if you run amandad from the command line on the client as the Amanda user).
