I don't really see how this relates to AmIRC in particular, as it is
just opinions, but since everyone else is doing it, *shrugs*.

So do I, but they aren't *.DOC or *EXE or even *VBS files.

Btw, in case some people would try and get around the restrictions by
just renaming a file, eg links.vbs to links.gif, as Windows would
actually just see it as a GIF and therefore pops up an error saying it
isn't a GIF file afterall, etc.

I suppose if one day you forgot to lock your house for one blind second,
and come back half an hour later to see the entire contents of your
house is gone. Does that make it right for them to steal? I guess not.
Not everyone is M$, some files may be harmful to other operating
systems, including AmigaOS, so don't pull a wool over your eyes thinking
that no files sent over IRC, or indeed the Internet is Amiga friendly.
And finally, there are always be people who don't understand what it is
about, and blindingly accepts something. It is only with
time/experience/advice that they understand the risks. It is unfair to
assume they are stupid because they accepted a file. It doesn't take a
rocket scientist to understand all this, but a rocket scientist would
have to start somewhere to understand it. :-)
Yeah, DCCAllow is a very good idea, and if its "inconveniences" you, get
it via email or FTP if it's that important! And if you insist on
moaning about this, take it through with someboby else, I dunno,
dalvenjah, as this isn't a DALnet mailing list either.
Just my two cents
