Just some beginner's questions, as I had something similar after I finally 
managed to upgrade an existing 2007/12 install:

When you have an internet connection, you do:

ipkg update
ipkg upgrade

Then all the existing updates for this release are installed. Afterwards, I 
did 'reboot' in a root shell. Something came up again, but the last I saw was 
a white screen. No login screen appeared. What did I do wrong?
