As Jim points out, fixing the hook into the auth. mechanism is an easy
change.  But, without a set of pre-written authenticators that can be
plugged in, for most folks who aren't C programmers or don't want to
learn how to write an HTTP authentication module in Tcl using filters,
this doesn't do much good.

That's why I still think it's important to understand how people will
use these alternate methods of authentication that can be plugged in, so
that we can actually develop a few canned procs for people to plug in
and use.
