Don't worry, you are not the first who encountered this problem. Go to

Despite the title, recovering your data is actually pretty easy -
Branimir and me did it more than once while working on Siemens ShareNet.
It boils down to changing two bytes in the dump file to convince Oracle
that the data is already encoded as ISO-8859-1. This is even described
on Metalink, in Note:48644.1.
