Hi, I've been thinking about what help is most useful for translators in a post editing scenario, e.g. using OmegaT:
a) Professionals translating to their mother tongue b) amateurs translating to a foreign language In case a) Verbs and nouns are important, and to some extent adjectives and adverbs: the more infrequent, the more useful! Pronouns and prepositions are obvious and thus unimportant. Probably very infrequent nouns are the most wanted. In case b) prepositions are very important as they differ a lot between languages and are somewhat hard to learn. How good is Apertium at getting the right preposition? What module/step is the most important for this? Word order is sometimes also an important obstacle when translating to a foreign language. Apertium is quite stong at this, isn't it? Finally: For both cases idiomatic expressions are very useful. The less obvious ones are the most useful. Is there any free collection of idiomatic expressions available on Internet to use as a source when building or adding to a language pair?
