I totally agree with Aakarsh. In My Opinion, they both are genius on their own ways. Rahman does not have to say that (to credit IR), his music itself reflects the most of Ilayaraja's style. And the most of emotions expressed in Rahman's music is similar to Ilayaraja's oldies. The only difference is, Rahman used technology & his talent to give right track to those emotions!!

I am sure Rahman wouldnt credit some composer X, who could be at the top (however good or bad he may be...) 10 years from now.
