I remember starting back in late 95... early 96 with ARS 1.2. There were no
applications... no electronic (pdf) manuals. It came bundled with SYBASE or
you could run it using it's on proprietary flat file system. There was not
a web interface or Windows clients. Yep... life was simple. The first
suite of reporting tools I saw were developed by a team mate. They included
a form with a series of menus to "choose" the report you wanted. After
submitting the request, a process ran a perl script in the background than
called "aruser" from the unix command line and passed a macro to it to dump
a csv file. The script then generated the report and emailed it back to the
user. The first web interface I worked with was a CGI/API suite written by
Ron Weathers that used to be in the downloads. You had to write your own
HTML/JavaScript pages and forms to access the CGI applications.

Those were the good ole days.
