Hinge,
You're far from alone in hating it. Success or not, many people
think it's extremely ugly and sterile - especially for something
right next to the beach.

I guess it's a matter of taste.
I hate it with a passion.
I gave it a chance, but I still think it's horrible.
And your comment about it being a destination illustrates a point
close to my heart.
In my opinion, living in a culture where a horrible piece of
architecture becomes a
destination saddens me. There's plenty of boardwalk to walk on
without an overwhelming
ugly building to look at.
And Long Branch has plenty of good restaraunts to eat at that
existed long before Pier
Village.
In my opinion, our consumer driven culture presents the wrong values.
I will never view a shopping center as a destination.
But that's just me. I have enough stuff. I don't feel the need to
shop when i'm bored.
I think this says alot about American values. And it bums me out.

that about what was there
before. Allied created a successful place out of a ruin. You man
not agree with retail on
the water however, I find it hard to say it was the worst thing to
happen.
