I agree that blacks have had a bad time of it, and I feel that things are changing, although too slowly, but (always a but!) I kind of wonder about this Restitution issue. My family has farmed in up state NY near Lake George (John Brown was a neighbor for awhile) since the late 1740's , (escaping Scotland after most of the family was slaughtered by the English at Culloden) as far as I know, they never had slaves nor benefited from slave labor, as a matter of fact, quite a lot of them fought in the Civil War and a few died (No life insurance or death benefits back then). My wife is/was an Irish citizen, her parents came over during the depression to escape starvation. What is our share of this Restitution and how long do we pay it!
