The main reason I'd like to get rid of my local * box is to remove the
clutter. Sitting
behind a big chair in my living room, I've got an old Dell P233
running asterisk,
my router/dsl modem, my ATA, and all the cables and power adapters associated.

The DTMF problem I have is that, I think, the ATA just isn't picking
them up/reproducing them.
When I dial into remote phone systems (say, a tech support line or my
bank) and it says "press 1 for..."
I press 1 and it doesn't work. It'd be nice to know if it was the ATA
for sure, rather than spending
money on another ATA to find that it wasn't actually the problem.

In any case, I'm just looking for a way to get phone service without
having to sacrifice my
first born for traditional landline service.
