I've been doing some digging on the subject myself, didn't quite fully understand some of the Patent designs until you mentioned the PiezoElectric Actuators, so thanks for that, heh. A number of manufacturing companies i've checked don't seem to offer a price point without getting a quote. I did manage to find a Chinese manufacturer through Alibaba.com operating out of Shanghai though, they seem to sell other models of Piezo actuators for 50 cents per 2 pieces, minimum 100 piece order for some components. Anything resembling strips though needs a price quote and a minimum order of 500 pieces, assuming its the same price of 50 cents per 2 strips, that would work out to about 125$ plus shipping, assuming your going with a Piezoelectric actuators and not running into any braille display patent issues.
