Providing you have your documents backed up, you could just make a copy of your app data and downloads folders, reset the laptop, and then all you have to do is reinstall the programs and paste in your backed up app data folder, and you should have your stuff back.
If you've updated NVDA recently, another thing to try is either roll back to a previous version, or try reinstalling it if it's specifically an NVDA related issue causing your stuff to mess up.
