Re: Questions regarding iPhone and Mac
The main reason for going back to Windows is that the iOSification of OS X is taking its toll, and I'm increasingly depending on virtualisation even to run the simplest software (EG Thunderbird, for mail, to handle mailing lists). I'm also conscious of the bugginess of recent OS X updates regarding accessibility, the lack of choice, and the fact that flexibility is increasingly and generally being compromised. I just can't have that on my primary desktop machine, which needs to be fast and responsive. As a plaything or on a portable, OS X proves attractive. I do regret it, because Windows 7 is the most infuriating pile of pooh I have had the misfortune to run, but realistically it has to be on the bare metal to be useful.
To find your nearest Apple store, use Apple Retail. Of course, you can also purchase online. My advice is to look in the store and then purchase online, because p urchasing online gives you configuration options.
Converting a Mac to a Windows machine is easy (as long as it's Intel, naturally). Going the other way is much harder, but you can look into Hackintoshes if you really want to. There is, as I said, the option of virtualisation. But honestly, there's nothing quite like the real thing.
Yes, WWDC is both streamed live and made available afterwards as a download from apple.com and in iTunes as a video podcast. It's 5 PM GMT (6 PM in London) today, whatever that is in your timezone.
The disclaimer on the VoiceOver page is just a generic disclaimer; it's hard to imagine any such restriction applying to VoiceOver.
The singing voices are built in and just sing to the tune you heard over and over again with whatever input they are given, although it is in fact possible to make OS X voices sing use pitch and tune parameters. I've never seen anybody do this yet, though.
