@Quasar, I did suspect the omen machine had little to do with the previous conflict, though again, as the series had built to a definite ending with the death of Jagan and the destruction of the imperial order, it seemed a bit of overkill, particularly since as I said, things felt as if they were getting repetitive and rather over stated before that point.
good to know though that third kingdom picks things up.
I admit I am rather tempted to continue the series, partly out of respect for Goodkind, though equally I have so much else new to read at this stage.
