@dardar: The whole you should've bought it when it was around argument is busted in this case. Because those who did! buy it are now just as screwed as those who didn't. I do remember their shoppingcart was starting to fall apart at at some point before it went down anyway.
Munawar is absolutely right, and he is defintiely qualified in this considering he has developed games as a fully registered llc (that's not to say you're immediately unqualified in this), but having released several commercial games that does mean that when he talks about doing right by his customers, that is exactly what he did by open sourcing all his games. That's not to say that open sourcing is the only way to do right by one's customers (it's no small effort after all and assets can make that difficult), but Dan Zingaro released patches, Jason released the key generator, Justin gave permission for us to host BSC's titles along with the key generator. VIPGameszone has not only disappeared their titles, but they have allowed existing customers to get screwed over by an always-online registration system.
Yes, a developer does put time and effort into the games, but that does not mean that they are immunt to executive decisions being made for the good of the community (community failure for shady develpers, as it were).
