Without competition, there is no need for inovation, because people and companies can just keep churning out the same junk and no one can complain. Thats kinda how a monopoly works. You take hold of everything and don't no one can do anything about it and only you profit from what you have. just look at what electronic arts did to their sports franchises. They hold all the licenses to all the major sports teams, fifa, NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and they are content to rehash and release the same game each year with minor updates to reflect the times, all while charging full price for their product they released years ago and squeezing every penny out of the consumer. No one else can make better games, because no one else holds the licenses, so now that is leading to stagnation, and the creators of these products are content to ride on the backs of what they created years ago as they use lootboxes to drain more money from the consumer.
