I sort of agree with your view on interconnects, I think money is much better spent elsewhere. Being a Naim and vinyl person, I am probably guilty of being a bit of a gear snob. However, I cannot for the life of me understand how people can buy into the idea of $5000 power cables. I surmise that there **may** be minor differences, (and that is a big may), but the difference should be minuscule and may or may not even be better, let alone worthing $5000. But I do believe all the Slim people frequenting this board are more music lovers and are smarter with their gear setup. From their descriptions many of them have some pretty awesome and well chosen systems.
