I think it's a good (and very light) isolation medium. I don't think it magically absorbs anything, what would it magically turn the heat energy into?
I use carbon fiber all over my motorcycle. Looks good, is light, and isolates heat. Not sure about the advnatages those traits would deliver in an audio environment, but then again, I do not argue with psychoacoustics.
