Dan,

My signal path is digital all the way to the DAC, then tube buffer,
preamp, power amp, speaker...My footer point is that, in the vast
majority of recordings, the original "sounds" will have travelled
through a lot,lot more devices than that (including some pretty
non-audiophile op-amps!) before it leaves the factory and heads to the
shop where we buy it...
