FWIW, the audio track in a DVD has to be one of: PCM, Dolby Digital, or
DTS. The latter are lossy compression techniques. PCM is uncompressed,
and is what is used here.

When I ripped the DVD audio tracks, I ended up with wav files which are
a second or two longer than the included .wav files. As a result, to
properly compare them, I need a tool which tries to align the audio
start points. Most binary compare functions make no effort to do this,
but a few audio compare functions do it properly. EAC has one such
tool, but unfortunately, it doesn't work with 24/96 wav files. If
anyone knows one that does work with 24/96, please feel free to
enlighten me!

I was curious to compare the files, to see if there is anything that's
trying to discourage sharing. After record companies working so hard
to make it harder and harder to copy audio files, it's a surprise to
find a disc that makes it so very easy! The cynic in me wants to
believe there's a hidden virus, or worm to the RIAA! The Optimist in
me wants to tell everybody to run out and buy this album, to tell the
world we want better sound, easy inclusion in our music servers, and
are willing to pay for it!

Cheers, Dave
