Not in any sense that matters for the ripping process. > Is there any $1K CD drive for Hi-Fi ripping? (I mean $1K for the CD > drive itself not for the automated machine.) I'll sell you one :-). Seriously, it's totally unnecessary - while a decent drive might save you some headaches, mine are ordinary and cheap and almost always succeed in getting perfect rips (so long as the CDs are in good shape). > 2. There is zero data loss in either, assuming you rip and stream in a lossless format like FLAC. That has been verified many times by forum members. > 3. What makes the $3K transpoter worth other than the minimized loss (if > so) in its circutry? It's not only the sequence of bits which determines sound - it's the circuitry which converts that sequence to an analogue voltage, and, for S/PDIF connections, potentially the jitter in the digital signal. The TP also has increased functionality over the SB or Duet (digital inputs, hi-res format compatibility, etc.). -- opaqueice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=50690 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
