erm - I'm not trying to explain anything...I'm trying to get to the bottom of why you feel it so important not to attenuate anything digitally at all in YOUR setup, whilst other people (including me) have no issue with the concept, because they can't hear anything very bad happening. I'm pretty certain it isn't because you have golden ears or magic equipment or voodoo recordings! I'm doing some experiments with Omnia Sel Temperat from Carmina Burana - this is an incredibly quiet redbook recording, with a peak level of -33db!
