I have gone low-tech in the tv room:

I use a sony a/v switch to change from the squeezebox receiver to the
output from the tv.

The output from the TV goes to an Adcom preamp (for the remote volume)
and into the sub. This was simpler when my sony tv had "variable"
output since the tv was the preamp. My Samsung dlp doesn't have
"variable" output.

The output from the sb receiver goes straight into the sub and on to
the power amp (B & K reference 220.)

Speakers are Dynaudio Audience 72's and Sub30a.

real stereo makes the lights dim on the bass notes. (this means your amp
could also use it's own circuit.)
