I listen to Boom headphone out just about every night through Etymotic er-4p's. Sounds good to me. Better than an Ipod/portable player, but surely not as good as a dedicated headphone amp. Plus the Boom allows me access to my entire flac lossless library and podcasts, etc. For reference, my home stereo is conrad-johnson tubed pre-amp/ss amp.
