Don't really want to get into the main debate here, except to say that the issues with digital are not down to sampling rate (or indeed bit-depth).
This is readily proven by the fact that most (99%?) of people cannot tell the difference between playback of a 24/192 file and playback of the same file downsampled (properly!) to 16/44.1. -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...
