Earwaxer,,,we're not at a different level here. If we are, it's only a different level of people willing to part with huge sums of money for nothing.
For so many years, I did home demos of mega high end gear....and I used microphone cable (Belden if you must know) that sold for about $0.39/ft. The differences people heard. The transparency. The open-ness, The soundstage,etc, et al. Cable that is nearly flat to 1ghz. Not in 1M lengths....but at 1000M lengths. Yes....1 kilometer! Yes...I had to hide that cable. Braided jackets were wonderful, because if they KNEW I was using $0.39/ft cable...OMG. The interface between component "A" and component "B" is electrical. It is subject to all the applicable laws. Audiophile nonsense does NOT apply...no matter how hard we wish it to be....it does NOT apply.
