you Touch on the subject off signal cables here, speaker wires can be a little different due to low impedance speakers high currents etc, there is a real effect albeit small and easy to fix. but signal cables as you say :) You have to commit a gross design error iether in the cable or the asosiated equipment for it make an iota off difference.
