EAC, cdparanoia etc are useful if you have scratched discs. At least you
know when you're not getting a perfect rip.

However, in my own tests unscratched discs have always been read bit
perfectly. So for unscratched discs I consider it unnecessary (and I
consider myself pedantic about these things).

I hope my point is clear; of course, there is nothing wrong with using
EAC, cdparanoia etc if you want.
