Aha ron made a much shorter response and better. Mabe we should translate 12 awg to something understandable. http://24volt.eu/awg_mm.php 3.31 mm2 maybe more for very low z speakers.
In Eu typical loudspeaker wire sizes can be 2,5 mm2 next one is usually 4 mm2 . sound of different metals in cables belongs to our myth tread imo enough about that. output z of preamps vs input z of amps okay, they are in sane designs usually like < 100 ohm out and between 10kohm and 100kohm in think we are green in most cases given the short lengths involved. Passive preamp have some concern about C in the cable otherwise treble rollof could occur, but BJC and similar outfits have low C signal cable from belden or canare etc for peanuts so it wont ruin you. my 0.0.2c is to go for active speakers as they just do away with so many other concerns, this reasoning usually falls on the limited and expensive selection avaible, but it seems like the amount avaible models increase all the time -- Mnyb -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
