I wouldn't call him a hero for trying to develop the SB replacement either. Although villain might be a bit over the edge too. But when he was a part of the SB replacement team he was trying to accomplish something very strange with the DAC bit. First he selected a crappy DAC chip which he praised into heaven. The crappy DAC had bad digital filters according to John so he wanted to bypass those and accomplish that by (very complex) software. Logic sense would dictate to select a good DAC chip instead. This is where John lost my credibility. It is now amplified by a hocus-pocus product such as the regen.
