Well said Tim

With the email list it is much easier to see any replies, however when it comes
to Soaring Australia you are trusting what you read. A few times I have
stopped half way through an article to see who wrote it, just because it doesnt
quite read right. It must be very frustrating for those who have paid for a
back cover spread to read what is basically free advertising within the pages
(especially when it is written as a review). At the very least, and
association with a particular manufacturer should be mentioned at the end of
the article.

Cheers

In the interests of free speech, I do not believe that this group should have
a moderator.

However, I think it would be appropriate for those with a vested interest in
a particular product to make that interest clear when posting on this list (and
when writing articles in Soaring Australia) especially when they are praising
or promoting the products they sell.

I have no objection to this list being used to advertise (that is free
speech, as well), but I would like to know that it IS an advertisement. In the
case of Soaring Australia, I also believe that blatantly promotional articles
should be paid for just like any other advertisement.

While many of us know who is who in the zoo, there will be those who don't.
Perhaps, if these people choose not to declare their interest, another member
of the list could "out" them :)

I don't think anyone doubts that the ASG29 is a "good thing". It was only
suggested that those same pilots would probably have done equally well in other
equipment.

  Cheers

This group might need a moderator to keep competing sailplane salesmen
under control.

Bernard's post congratulated the 3 pilots involved, so what is Luke's line
1 all about?

Why is it so hard to accept that the ASG29 just might be a pretty good
thing?

I am sure the pilots had nothing to do with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The three pilots concerned could fly a brick to first place!!!!

Looks like the handicap needs to be adjusted then Bernard if they are
that good, what would you suggest 1 or 2 percent? This should happen before the
nationals to be fair to the others

        Hi Simon

I can see that you are trying to spice up this newsgroup. Good try -
good on you!!!

In all seriousness, Simon, having three ASG 29 in the comp and having
all three pilots

on the podium is by no means an isolated case. It has happened at
various Nationals

in Europe and America and is one of many reasons why the ASG 29 is
widely regarded

as the top ship in 18m class these days.

Especially in countries like Australia its spectacular performance in
high speed cruise

makes the glider attractive. Not even the very best of today’s open
class ships can stay

with it and it doesn’t seem to matter whether the aircraft has
developed spar bumps or

        not.

But don’t take my word for it and talk to Butch. He has just placed his
second order

for an ASG 29(E) – number sixteen (16) in my sales territory.

On another matter, are you coming to the Waikerie coaching week in
January?

        Your confirmation would be appreciated!

        Kind regards

        Hi all

I didn’t want to contradict Adam before the final results were out but
I hope I can

be forgiven for stating that only three ASG 29 competed but finished
first, second

        and third.

Congratulations to Graham, Hank and Mac.

Adam, the fastest speed of the comp was done by Mac flying an ASG 29.

Not sure if Westy was pulling my leg or not, but he had said that a
V2cx did 180km/hr over the task!

Sounds like it's either the 'biggest ever...' aus soaring day, or the
VENTUS 2CX is just a WICKED glider!!

Wonder how many have pulled out of the comp to try for the 1000 or
record flights?
