livestream is banned to so no way for online 400 People is not to much. In a bus you can pack about 50 or even more people. This makes up to 8 - 10 Busses. I gues it will be easy to find a transportation company which would like to offer a special price for such an amount of people even in this short time.
8 - 10 Busses would also mean you could have about 4 stops to change for different talks inside the bus before you go for a sleep ;-) If only a few would like to come than book some less busses. It would be good to get a feedback thow. You could even let the busses start in Bangkok from different places. i.e. one bus could pick up all arriving from Suvarnabhum Airport so there is no need in risking anything and simply drive around Bangkok instead of getting people inside. I am sure when I ask here at PSU we can get this thing going even in this short amount of time. The director of Software Park Phuket where our company is located is also Professor there. We will also contact SIPA Phuket as they have also places available. And we will ask the Phuket Administrative Office to help and as said I am sure our church will help to. They have a huge room for about 300 people with a big stage and 2 lcd monitors to each side and even a synchron translation system available. So Thai talks could be translated in to english. Below the worship room is a huge space where another session could take place, usually we are having lunch here. They have a kitchen too and I guess we can organize that they will provide lunch for an affordable price. The church is located in Thalang, In the evening we could have a Beach session with AfterParty at Layan Beach. There is very good CDMA Connectivity to. We sometimes work from there ;-) What steps need to be taken to get this thing runing: 1. Phone to the southern Busterminal or if you have contact to a Bus transportation Company ask them. Ask them if they can provide busses to make BarCamp on Tour possible. 2. As soon as you will give us a go I will contact the Directors of Software Park, my friends at SIPA-Phuket and Khun Paiboon head of the Phuket Provincial Office and see how we can help. At least our church or my former school where I was director can provide place for you. It is an "emergency" and it is to promote Free Open Software Products to and It is a chance also for Phuket and actually Thailand to show that Thailand is peaceful and worth to be visited by people from all around the world. I am sure that they are in and that we can get this thing going. 3. Check how many people are arriving from the airport and when they are arriving. Get a feedback if they are in! and pick them up direct at the airport. Perhaps they can even redirect their flights to Phuket airport and we will see how we can pick them up from the airport. We only would need to know who and how many we would need to pick up. 4. possible Locations for Meetings if only a few people will come could be also Software Park Phuket. It has Conference location for about 120 People ( 40 / 40 / 14 / and our office on the same floor we can transform also to fit 20 people. All rooms incl our office have big screen and LCD and WiFi and of course the Church like mentioned above. http://softwareparkphuket.com I don't think it will be a bigger problem for people which don't know each other to travel together in a bus and have fun. Actually that is what a Barcamp is for - to meet new people. So BarCampers are usually easy going people and are very communicative and friendly people which want to meet new people to get new inspirations. It only needs for now a GO form you in Bangkok and a number of people which might come! It is not to late to start right now - TODAY! to get the planing running! Everyone who want to have a Barcamp now is invited to come here! Lots of people have already booked their flights and as said its easy to get around Bangkok if you pick them up at the airport. So we could have fun without worrying that somebody gets killed in Bangkok. Moving the BarCamp to Phuket would be also much better PR than postponing or cancelling it. Show the world that we are innovative here in Thailand and have creative ideas. Invite some reporters which don't like to get shot - to join you in the busses. Take Videos from the talks inside the busses and we will post and stream them lateron to the world. Forget for now about Sripatum - this is simply a nogo place right now!
