I can understand your concerns and I saw things coming up like this already weeks ago as you know. But Airlines would be happy to redirect flights to Phuket instead of loosing the customer ;-)
You need to cancel the Barcamp in Bangkok at the location at Sripatum for sure - I would do the same! But you can offer all those enthusiasts which still want to make BarCamp at this weekend happen to get on Tour to Phuket. Why not? Here it is peaceful and quiet and we have the necessary infrastructure available. Even in our church we have WIFI and like said Synchron Speaker Cabine for translation. Lets say if only a quarter of people would come - which means about 100 - 150 People we could make it happen here at our location at SoftwarePark! In a building where Hospital OS, TYPO3 and many other Free Open Source Products are at home and get developed. For sure we will get also people from Phuket to come here. perhaps even people which actually intended to travel up to Bangkok as we thought to do until the blockade of those redshirts. I guess lots people from Bangkok would be happy to have also one weekend without worrying where and when bullets are flying in which direction and perhaps hurting them. Cancel Bangkok Promote Phuket and we get things going. Try to get at least a feedback from the registered people if they would like to join the Phuket idea! We here in Phuket will help you in Bangkok to get things going in a safe surrounding. And you all will help us by joining to promote Phuket as an ICT Innovation Paradise and OpenSource Development and Training Hub for Asia.
