Some asked, "Why waxed cotton?" Good question. I'd say it has to do with
looking for potential alternatives to plastics and the plastics
industry, and trying to do what is right for the environment. Of course,
with waxed cotton being slathered in paraffin or whatever Duxback is would
possibly eliminate the benefits of using cotton as an alternative to
nylon/pastic/petroleum, not to mention the jacket would be shipped from the
UK, and I'm sitting in Portland, Oregon. In addition, Carradice rain gear
doesn't pack too well, as it's bulky.

I looked into recycled plastics, and noticed that Patagonia makes a jacket
called the Storm, which has a 100% recycled shell, and a 52% recycled liner.
It also has pit zips and cool hood. To top it off, Patagonia will recycle
the jacket when it's lifespan is over, which is more responsible than most
outdoor gear companies. It's $250, so I might try to find it on sale, so let
me know if you know of a good place to get Patagonia on sale (besides Sierra
Trading Post).

For pants, I'm looking at Showers Pass, but haven't tried them on yet. Still
open to other recommendations if people have any.

For overshoes, people recommended CAT (old Burley design) and MEC out of
Canada, and I had been looking at Showers Pass and Carradice. Still haven't
decided, and will continue looking.
