I'm not quite sure I see how that could be the case. Although the situation is improving in some places, more often in the minor leagues (although there are partial/limited exceptions in MLB, such as the Baltimore Orioles), ballpark "beer" is notoriously bad, so bad that it is not worthy of being described by the name of that noble and most sacred beverage. So if one wishes to enjoy a beer at the ballpark (although I am assuming that what was described in the bicycle trip to County Stadium was for tailgating rather than trying to "smuggle" a keg into the game itself, where management prefers a captive audience rather than allowing fans having free choice), bringing your own becomes a necessity because once inside the gates the pale, sickly, yellow carbonated urine-like fluid that is passed off as "beer" is vile and totally unfit for consumption by decent human beings. Not only that, this foul liquid is exceedingly overpriced.
