either; some people might not have agreed with every point made in the
interview or might have wished that certain issues that should have been
addressed would have been included, but it was a reasonably intelligent
short-format feature  But even before seeing Matt's comment, the use
of "vehicle" rather than "motor vehicle" stuck out
like a sore thumb to me as I read it and saw the same error
repeated over and over (even aside from the awkward "fatal
car-vehicle crashes" in the first sentence, which I suspect will be
corrected online at some point).

If I had to guess, I would
assume that Noyce probably correctly said "motor vehicle" in the
interview because someone in his position would know that professionally,
and it is more likely that either the reporter or an editor got it wrong,
perhaps out of some misplaced interest in erroneously deleting the
"extra" word.  I say that in part because there are no
quotation marks to indicate that the responses are verbatim quotations and
I am assuming that the reporter might have paraphrased for
brevity.
