Greetings: Well, the meeting was interesting. The councilor wishing to address
the concerns of the wetland and the "suspension"
of all permits CHANGED the original wording of tonight's agenda just before the
Council meeting this evening. He now wants to
address "safety and security issues". For now, the permit system stills
remains in effect. Please get your permits, this will show
council the importance of the wetland.
So everything has been set aside until a future date due to this change in
"Point of Order".
Next week I have asked to put together a "delegation" to present information to
the "Committee of the Whole"
to show the importance of the permit system for the wetland, the demographics
of the average birdwatcher and
the economic effect on Brighton.
The emails received by the Mayor and all councilors was a great success. They
all now know the effect closing the wetland.
They now know how important the wetland is to birdwatching.
I thank everyone one of you who sent emails to the Mayor and CAO. I thank you
for forwarding
those emails to me as I made sure every councilor received the emails also.
The comment made by one councilor
was:" Let's deal with this before we get anymore emails".
After the delegation to the Committee of the Whole, I may very well call upon
you to send more emails to the Mayor and
Councilors when the committee of the whole issues will be sent to council.
I asked Mayor Walas to accompany me into the Wetland so I can show him what we
see. he has agreed to meet
with me this coming Friday at 1:00pm.
Thank you everyone, especially Ontbirds for posting my emails concerning the
Brighton Constructed Wetland.
Thank you everyone!
Most sincerely
Maureen Campeau
