I will do this, however. As I install most recent packages onto my 6.5 box,
if it works, I'll update the page to say so. This will take very little
time on top of building the packages. Then, folks will know the recent
version works, and when the book is updated, my little note will be
removed.

I can actually go through the book very fast if I don't have to stop
and update each package in the book as I go, which is the way I've
always done in the past. I don't think it will take that long to get
BLFS in good shape.

Actually, thinking about it, I believe there may have been some
overreaction to the state of BLFS. It has only been 11 months since
the last BLFS release. We've gone much, much longer than this between
updates in the past.
