 You sound as if you are looking at a *very* old version of BLFS.

 Fluxbox-1.3.2 is in chapter 26, and I moved Metacity into gnome
when I merged Wayne's work for gnome-3.2 : Metacity is the fallback
wm for gnome-3 where hardware DRI is not available.
