This is a temporary fix. The problem is still there. Your Windows Explorer
will not crash as much but it will still crash especially on 64 bit systems.
Run a Google search and you will see for yourself. The only reason it
doesn't crash as much after this fix, which was by the way provided by
someone named Ryan on the W7Starters list months ago is because most of you
are running basic searches and because these crashes are random. Please
understand this as many on these list seem to have issues with basic
comprehension and continue perpetuating false information as they think
reading these fixes on these lists makes it law. These crashes will still
happen. You only believe this problem is fixed because of the random nature.
For whatever reason these explorer crashes do not happen if you use the
start menu search.

While in Windows Explorer, tab to organize button, down arrow to
layout menu, right arrow to open, down arrow to preview pane, and make
sure it's unchecked.
There's probably a quicker way to do this, but when I did this my
problem was solved.
