It has nothing to do with jaws. Maria conveyed her suggestion because
another lister named Dave passed it on to her on another list. I don't think
she can answer your question. Your problem is not gone at all because these
problems are random and this is a known Windows 7 bug. I have been trying
desperately to give people valid information regarding this problem, but for
whatever reason blind people seem to be especially unwilling to research
these things on their own and take suggestions on these lists as 100%
irrefutable fact. You seem thirsty for knowledge, and I urge you to run a
search for this problem on Windows 7 forums. At this point there is nothing
more I can do other than showing you to the water.

Maria,

Thanks for this suggestion. This seems to have rectified the problem.

My question is: Do you think this issue of having the preview pane on and
Explorer hanging is related to JAWS or are non-JAWS users seeing this also?
I didn't find any references to this solution on the net (although many
folks had complained of similar issues).

Thanks.

While in Windows Explorer, tab to organize button, down arrow to
layout menu, right arrow to open, down arrow to preview pane, and make
sure it's unchecked.
There's probably a quicker way to do this, but when I did this my
problem was solved.
