Maria, Thanks for this suggestion. This seems to have rectified the problem.
My question is: Do you think this issue of having the preview pane on and Explorer hanging is related to JAWS or are non-JAWS users seeing this also? I didn't find any references to this solution on the net (although many folks had complained of similar issues).
