I have the start menu set to classic view and many programs are missing.
They are however, showing in the control panel. I tried changing the start
menu to the XP view and some are still missing. I have no Microsoft Office
items and some others which I'm not even sure about.

Are the missing programs listed under All Programs? Are they also listed
under Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel?
