Hi Dan Normally the items in the start menu are not programs but, shortcuts to the programs. If you want to put the shortcuts back try the following;
1. Go to the start menu folder in My Computer / Documents & Settings / Your Name folder / Start Menu. 2. Find the Programs folder & press enter. 3. Highlight the program you would like to create a start menu shortcut for. With the program highlighted press the applications / context menu key. 4. Arrow down to, Send To, & press enter or, just the letter, N, after opening the context menu. 5. With context menu / Send to open, arrow down to desktop create shortcut & press enter. 6.. Now go to the shortcut you have on your desktop. If you have to rename it, with the shortcut highlighted, press the F2 key, this will open an edit field so you can alter / change the name, & press enter to save your changes & close the edit field. 7. With the shortcut highlighted, press the applications key, press the letter, N, for, Send to, arrow down to start menu, & press enter. The shortcut will be in your start menu & you can delete the shortcut from the desktop. 8. After you get all the things added to your start menu you want to add, press the windows key to open the start menu, press the applications key, arrow up to sort by name, & press enter. This arranges everything except folders in alphabetical order. The folders will be at the top & shortcuts below the folders. Hope this helps. Take care. They are however, showing in the control panel. I tried changing the start menu to the XP view and some are still missing. I have no Microsoft Office items and some others which I'm not even sure about. -----Original Message----- From: blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Gerald Levy Sent: Tuesday, June 07, 2011 2:20 PM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Programs Disappearing from Start Menu Are the missing programs listed under All Programs? Are they also listed under Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel?
