Robert; Thanks for letting us know about this problem. If I send my unit in, I will send a note saying what I expect to be done and if it is a repair, I will request a call to conferm the problem and costs. The only time I have sent my unit in besides for my transplant, was for a cleaning. At that time I did not know about needing a tracking number. They have to call you to get your credit card number. What we talked about yesterday, if they do not leave a note saying what they did to the unit and the charges, that means they did not leave a receipt. Just because we are blind, we need to be treated equally as average customers. They would not get by with out giving a sighted person a receipt. Terry Powers

I have never sent in my mPower for anything yet but they would be up a major creek if they tried to charge me over $900 when I thought only a simple cleaning was needed. When a sighted person takes their car in for repairs, it is first evaluated and then a price is given for each problem and the person has them do whatever they can afford not simply fix the problem and then tell you the price. To me, this is unfair practices and I won't be sending my unit in for cleaning for fear that they are going to fix something that I cannot afford. I have received emails with tracking numbers when I transplanted. I have also received emails with tracking numbers when I received my unit back in January. Now, the problem I have and would love to see a fix to this. when your unit is sent in for repairs, it seems as if Humanware staff think that you are automatically going to have the work done so they go ahead with repairing the unit. It would really be nice if they would call you and say the unit needs a new mother board which will cost $963 plus tax do you want to wait or shall we go ahead with the work? If someone doesn't have the money or a credit card to do the purchse with, and Humanware procedes with the work then they are forced to pay the cost of a new mother board or whatever is in need of fixing. It seems to me that it would be nice to have a courtesy call saying what the work on the unit is going to be and a proximate cost of it as well as receiving a confirmation that the user wants the work done. thanks for reading.
