Most of my cats have done the same thing - Kia goes so
far as to stand over the lawn sprinkler and lap at the
streams, winding up with the entire front of his ruff
soaked and dripping water by the time he's through.
(When I lived in an apartment, he'd drink out of the
swimming pool by 'hanging' from his haunches, with his
front feet braced on the side of the pool, below the
water level.) Strange! :)

What I didn't mention for brevity before is that Midnight stands with his hind feet on the side of the tub and puts his front feet on the Jacuzzi nozzle so he can get his head down to the water level. No, at least so far he hasn't tried to drink the moving water as it comes out of the nozzle, but I probably wouldn't put it past him. When he drinks out of the faucet, his hind legs and back end are again on the side of the tub, and his body is twisted around its long axis nearly 180° to put his mouth on top under the faucet. (I suppose sometime I ought to think to take a picture of that. I have pictures of him climbing the ladder to follow me when I went up on the roof. That was before he discovered that at one end of the house the roof is low enough and there are things he can climb on so he can jump up on the roof without assistance.) And when he hears me running water in the bathroom, he will run in there and sit and wait until the faucet is turned off to catch the drips. However, try to give him a _bath_ when he needs it (very infrequently, fortunately), and as I mentioned earlier, you will need first aid.

D.J. just stands or sits on the edge of the tub and meows constantly. If the shower curtain is closed, he will stand on the edge of the tube between the inner and outer curtains and stick his nose around the end of the shower curtain to watch . . . at least until he gets sprayed or splashed. (He, btw, is the one who can stand on the floor and stick his nose over the edge into the sink.)
