Or did John compare ideas that are part of a long and shameful tradition of anti-Semitism to Hitler. IIRC, I thought it was a bit of an overstatement at the time. The anti-Semitism of pogums is not as bad as Hitlers; just as the anti-Semitism of boys who called a friend of mine "Christ Killer" was not as bad as the anti-Semitism of pogums.
