Si, I normally appreciate your rants because they're well thought through, fairly well informed & can be reasonably expected to need to be aired where they are. You don't seem to have thought this one through like you normally do.
UKU *is* switching to rolling 12 month membership which is why we're in this situation. Have you tried contacting Si or someone involved in the publication of Ultimatum directly & not had any helpful responses? Because that would seem the mature response if you've got a complaint. Airing your dirty laundry on a public forum not actually related to the organisation you're complaining about doesn't seem like the appropriate response to having a query. This is at least the third time we've had updates about Ultimatum, this year's subs & the changes to the fee structure. Why wait till now? I'm curious what the response will be from the UKU / Ultimatum team, because you do raise a good point. Will those players who paid for 2012 receive an Ultimatum for 2012 if they haven't renewed yet? Shouldn't Ultimatum 2012 go to people who paid for 2012? Still, you could just pay for next season now & it wouldn't be an issue...
